Let's Basecoat:
- Basecoat the plaque with Wicker White.
- Apply the Crackle Medium as directed on the label.
- Add a topcoat of Turner's Yellow and allow to dry.
- Seal if desired to help prevent your snowmen from crackling.
- Basecoat the snowman faces with Warm White.
- Basecoat the left hat with Slate Blue.
- Basecoat the middle hat with Christmas Red.
- Basecoat the right hat with Hauser Green Medium.
Let's Paint Details:
- Shade the edge of the sign and around the snowman faces with Burnt Sienna.
- Using the large stencil brush and Wicker White, stipple or pounce the faces - be sure to stipple lightly around the edges to allow some of the Burnt Sienna to show through.
- Drybrush cheeks using the large stencil brush and Christmas Red.
- Alternate the stripes on the noses with Wicker White and Christmas Red.
- Paint the eyes, mouths and lashes with Licorice. For the lashes, load the brush by rolling the bristles into watery paint. Drag the bristles across the palette to make sure there is a good point at the tip. Keeping up on the tips of the bristles, begin at the eye and pull out in a light, sweeping motion.
- Add the snowflakes to the blue hat with thinned Light Blue. Dot the ends and add extra dots on the hat with Light Blue.
- Doubleload the small stencil brush with Christmas Red and Wicker White and pounce the hat band on the red hat.
- Using the #0 Liner, add the lines on the green hat with thinned Hauser Green Light.
- Shade the blue hat with Navy Blue.
- Shade the red hat with True Burgundy.
- Shade the green hat with Thicket.
- Highlight the blue hat with Light Blue.
- Highlight the red hat with Sweetheart Pink.
- Highlight the green hat with Hauser Green Light.
- Go back with the small stencil brush doubleloaded with Wicker White and Christmas Red and stipple the red hat band again to create a fuzzy appearance, stippling barely onto the shaded areas.
- Using the 18/0 liner and thinned paint, create the tassel on the red hat by first adding True Burgundy strokes, then Christmas Red strokes, and finally Wicker White. Keep these very thin, using very little pressure and keep the bristles up on the tips.
- Load the large stencil brush with Wicker White. Pounce on your palette to load the brush full of paint, then tip one side of the bristles into Navy Blue. Pounce again on your palette to blend, pouncing over and over in the same spot without turning the brush. Pounce the ball on the end of the blue hat.
- Load the large stencil brush with Wicker White. Pounce on your palette to load the brush full of paint, then tip one side of the bristles into Thicket. Pounce again on your palette to blend, pouncing over and over in the same spot without turning the brush. Pounce the ball on the end of the green hat.
- Using Wicker White, float highlights in the eyes and dot the eyes. Highlight across the centers of the noses.
- Using Burnt Sienna, shade around the edges of the noses.
- Write the words with slightly thinned Licorice. Dot the letters with Licorice.
- Paint the music notes with Licorice.
- Attach the hanger on the back and enjoy!
