How do I launder my finished needle craft?

  • Upon completing a needle craft project, it is best to launder it and then set the floss dyes. To do this, begin with a cool water / mild dish liquid detergent bath. Fully immerse the completed project into the soapy water and slightly agitate the fabric using your fingers.
  • Once clean, remove from the cool water bath and rinse well under cool water until the projects rinses clear.
  • Next, immerse the project in a cool water/vinegar bath to set the floss colors. To do this, add just a splash of white distilled vinegar to a cool water bath. Allow the project to set a few minutes, then rinse well once again under cool water.
  • Lay the washed project out flat on a white towel, then roll the towel up to remove excess water and begin drying. Do NOT wring the fabric.
  • After towel drying, it is best to completely dry the project on an ironing board using a hot iron, with no steam. To do this, lay the washed project stitching side down / back side up on a clean ironing board. Place a pressing cloth over the back of the project and press using a hot, dry iron. Lift and move the iron and continue pressing until all areas are dry and pressed smooth.
