Chief Financial Officer

Department: Finance
Location: Norcross, GA

This position will report directly to the CEO and will serve as a business partner, an enabler, and a problem solver in strategic issues facing the company. The CFO will be responsible for a broad range of activities that support the financial effectiveness and excellence of the company. This leaderhsip role will require streamlining our inventory management, monthly close process, vendor payments and financial reporting processes in addition to critical analysis for the CEO to make actionable recommendations to aid in our continued top-line and bottom-line growth.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide substantially improved recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
  • Develop and implement department structure and processes to obtain optimum efficiency of the business.
  • Partner with the Corporate Controllers to establish and maintain an effective internal control structure, with self-audit procedures that will ensure the consistent application of accounting policies.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax, legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
  • Develop financial business plans and forecasts utilizing forward-looking predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans.
  • Provide support and direction on financial activities including completing month-end closing, preparing financial statements in accordance with GAAP, Accounts Receivable and Collections, and the development and monitoring of budgets.
  • Actively participate in the due diligence and integration of new acquisitions, including assisting in migration of financial operations (accounting, financial reporting, payroll, AP, RCM, etc.) to ECP
  • Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, new projects and/or initiatives and regulatory action to ensure the appropriate return on investment.
  • Refine and establish appropriate metrics to assist the Division leadership in determining appropriate use of funds, expense control, etc.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with senior executives to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions.
  • Develop a highly skilled and well-trained “world class” staff which includes providing appropriate training, coaching and career.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will demonstrate strength across a few key factors:

  • Technical Excellence: Possess a solid understanding of all the finance and capital allocation functions as well as a depth of knowledge and experience on the analytical side of finance. Strong financial planning and analysis skills that allow business partners to make better operating decisions are a must. Knowledge of retail operations, product merchandising principles, and services are highly desirable. In addition, strong technical proficiency with enterprise grade ERP systems.
  • Learning and Intellect: Demonstrate intellectual horsepower and a curious mindset. Ability to “deep dive” into the details of the business while staying focused on the big picture. Conceptualize and analyze both problems and solutions, identifying key metrics that will help the entire organization to improve performance, and show an interest in both the consumer and the customers of the company.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Must build and sustain an excellent relationship at multiple levels in the workplace and with the various external constituencies. Highly articulate (both verbally and in writing) and able to communicate the company’s successes and opportunities with passion and intensity. Seen as a leader by the organization and by the financial community.
  • Executing for Results: Demonstrate ability to drive results in an organization and build consensus behind decisions that may not always be popular; a genuine willingness to challenge the status-quo. Must have a history of managing execution and making or exceeding plan. Well versed in performance management with the capability to be a strong business partner to the line leaders in the organization. Define the metrics that drive performance, educate the organization on what is or isn’t working and push the organization.

Minimum Requirements

  • A minimum 20 years of demonstrated experience in a financial leadership role with 15 years as a CFO and 10 years at a consumer products company with a high sku count.
  • Expert level knowledge of both manufacturing and retail practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with a CPA.
  • Public Accounting (Big Four) Experience.
  • Hands-on full cycle US GAAP Accounting experience, including delivering a full set of financial statements monthly.
  • Good understanding of supply chain procedures and ability to analyze supply chain alternative.
  • Experience at a growth-stage business and designing a scalable finance and accounting function.
