Can I clean my wall that has been stenciled?
The stenciled portion of any wall is as washable as the background paint. In most rooms, stenciled walls do not require a protective finish, but kitchens, bathrooms (where there is steam from a shower), laundries, mud rooms, or children's rooms may need added protection from wear and tear, moisture or grease. Waterbase urethane, available at paint and hardware stores, can add protection to stenciled walls.
Here's how:
  1. Let the stenciling cure at least 36 hours.
  2. Apply the waterbase urethane finish with a roller. Apply the first coat quickly -don't spend time working the roller over the surface. Let dry according to label instructions.
  3. IF more protection is desired, apply a second coat and let dry.
