My paper punch gets mashed or stuck, OR is stiff and won't work. Do you have any tips to correct this problem?
When punches are new or if they have a very intricate design, they might be stiff and a bit hard to use. Try these tips to loosen them up so that you can begin punching:
  • Try using the punch without paper a few times to loosen it up. (If you're trying to punch through thick paper, you might want to try a paper that's thinner.)
  • To lubricate the punch, punch it through waxed paper several times.
  • To sharpen the punch, punch it through aluminum foil.
  • You can also try putting it in the freezer for a little while. In many cases this is all you need to loosen it up.
We recommend that you do not use your punches on anything thicker than light weight cardstock. You may want to reserve more intricate punches for vellum and very thin decorative papers. Also, you should sharpen and lubricate your punches regularly to prevent paper mashing.
