FAQs

On what surfaces can I use FolkArt 3D acrylic paints?

FolkArt 3D can be applied to most paintable craft surfaces: wood, terra cotta, stretched canvas, rigid plastic, papier mache, fabric, metal, bisque-ware or unglazed ceramics, glass and glazed ceramics, and rocks.

On what surfaces can I use FolkArt Coastal Texture Paint?

FolkArt Coastal Texture Paint can be applied to most paintable craft surfaces such as wood, terra cotta, stretched canvas, papier mache, metal, and bisque-ware or unglazed ceramics.

On what types of surfaces can I use FolkArt Marbling Paint?

Many surfaces can be decorated with FolkArt Marbling Paint: wood, papier mache, paper, canvas, metal, glassware, glazed ceramics, hard plastic, terracotta and fabric.

If attempting to marbleize a sealed surface such as glassware, glazed ceramics, or hard plastic, the surface should be kept for decorative use only, as surfaces painted with FolkArt Marbling Paint are not washable. The same goes for marbleizing fabric surfaces; FolkArt Marbling Paint is not washable on a fabric surface.

Should I “scrub” the FolkArt® Fabric™ Brush-on Paint into the fabric while painting?
When applying the paint, use enough brush pressure to press the FolkArt® Fabric™ Brush-on paint into the fabric, by doing this, you will increase the adhesion of the paint to the fabric.

Can I embellish a completed Barnwood project with stenciling or decorating painting?
A FolkArt Finishes Barnwood decorated surface can be enhanced with stenciling or decorative painting using FolkArt Acrylics; however, the Barnwood Wax finish will decrease the level of paint adhesion.
Once the painted embellishment has cured, apply a light misting of FolkArt clear acrylic sealer in desired finish to seal and protect.
Can I speed up the drying process of FolkArt® Extreme Glitter using a fan or hair dryer?
Yes, you can speed up the drying process of FolkArt® Extreme Glitter by using a fan or a hair dryer on the lowest setting.
Can I speed up the drying process of FolkArt® Texture Paint using a fan or hair dryer?
We recommend air drying the FolkArt® Texture Paint. Using a fan or hair dryer may remove the moisture from the paint too quickly and cause the paint to crack.
Can I use a project created with FolkArt Ultra Dye outdoors?
No, FolkArt Ultra Dye should only be used on indoor surfaces.
