FAQs

Can FolkArt® Shinys be used for surfaces that will be outdoors?
Yes, as long as the surface is suitable for outdoors. FolkArt® Shinys can be exposed to the elements and are fade resistant and water resistant.
Can FolkArt® Texture Paint be used on outdoor surfaces and projects?
Yes, FolkArt® Texture Paint can be used on outdoor surfaces and projects if they are protected from the elements. If they will be exposed to the elements, they need to be sealed with FolkArt® Outdoor Varnish.
Can I create any special effects with FolkArt Painted Finishes Moss?
You can create the look of weathered moss by adding water to the FolkArt Shortie Brush and dabbing the moistened bristles randomly into the wet moss texture paint. The water will allow some of the moss paint to run or drip.
NOTE: Be sure to hold the project surface upright to allow the drips to run in the direction as they naturally would do. FolkArt Painted Finishes Moss can be painted as an embellishment to a previously painted FolkArt Painted Finish such as: Cement or Barnwood.
Can I mix FolkArt® Chalkboard Paint with water, mediums or acrylic paints?
No, FolkArt® Chalkboard Paint should not be mixed with water, mediums or other acrylic paints. Mixing with anything other than other FolkArt® Chalkboard Paints will destroy the properties that make the paint work as a chalkboard surface.
Can I use FolkArt Lettering Brushes with other paints?

Yes, the FolkArt Lettering Brushes can be used with FolkArt Acrylics thinned with a touch of FolkArt Floating Medium or water.

Can I use my FolkArt Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Paint on my outdoor projects?
Yes, it is UV and weather resistant and can be used both indoors on curtains, glassware and wood as well as outdoors on terra cotta and garden signs.
Can I use water to thin FolkArt Dragonfly Glaze?
Although FolkArt Dragonfly Glaze is water-based, the use of water to thin the glaze is not recommended as it will reduce the adhesion properties as well as disperse the optically variable pigments of the glaze.

Can I use water to thin FolkArt Treasure Gold?
Yes, when desired, FolkArt Treasure Gold can be thinned with water, to create fine, detail decorative lines or strokework. However, if diluted too much, the opacity of the metallic paint will be reduced, and therefore, a second application to obtain a solid, opaque metallic effect is required.
Does FolkArt Color Watercolor Acrylic Paint hold up well on outdoor surfaces?
Yes, FolkArt Watercolor can be used on interior surfaces as well as on outdoor surfaces.
How do I clean up after using FolkArt 3D Acrylic Paint?

Because FolkArt 3D Acrylic Colors is water-based, it is easy to clean paint residue immediately after use, while paint is still wet with soap and warm water. Remember to replace the protective cap over the bottle of paint after each use.
