FAQs

Can FolkArt Milk Paint be used to stencil a design on my furniture?
Yes. FolkArt Milk Paint can be used when stenciling your milk-painted project.
Can I basecoat with FolkArt® Outdoor™ paint?
Yes.
If you are basecoating concrete, for example for a bird bath or statue, a lime neutralizer is needed. Household vinegar works fine. Coat the concrete with vinegar, let it dry, wash it off, dry thoroughly, then it's ready to paint.
It is not ideal to basecoat a large concrete area to walk on (ie: a patio).
Can I mix FolkArt® Chalkboard Paints together to achieve other colors?
Yes, FolkArt® Chalkboard Paint can be mixed with other FolkArt® Chalkboard Paints to achieve a different color palette.
Can I mix FolkArt® Extreme Glitter colors?
It is not recommended that you mix FolkArt® Extreme Glitter colors together because the tinted bases would get muddy. You may paint one color of Extreme Glitter and let it dry and then paint another color on top.
Can I mix FolkArt® Texture Paint with extender or water?
No you should not mix FolkArt® Texture Paint with extender or water. Mixing with any other liquid may increase cracking.
Can I wash glassware that has been coated with FolkArt Dragonfly Glaze and is cured?

Can I wash glassware that has been painted with FolkArt Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Paint and is cured?
Yes, painted glassware can be safely washed by hand and are top shelf dishwasher safe without chipping, cracking or fading. Do not soak in water.
Do I need to seal FolkArt Hand Lettering Paint?

Yes, projects using FolkArt Brush Lettering Paint should be sealed with a clear acrylic spray sealer to protect the project surface and to keep the paint’s metallic colors tarnish-resistant. After the paint has dried and cured, very lightly spray the project surface, then wait 60 seconds before spraying a medium application to seal; allow to dry completely.

Do I need to seal FolkArt Treasure Gold?
When thoroughly dry, projects completed using FolkArt Treasure Gold, will not require a topcoat or varnish. FolkArt Treasure Gold manufactured in the multi-surface formula, is self-sealing and will dry to a luscious metallic finish. However, for extra protection, should a surface be sealed with either a clear acrylic spray sealer or a brush-on varnish, please keep in mind that the metallic luster or sheen will change depending upon the type of finish or top coat that is applied.
Do I need to seal my project? If so, should I use Clear Wax or Varnish?
Yes, it is highly recommended that you seal your project to ensure maximum protection.
Use Wax to achieve a soft, smooth finish with your choice of Clear, Antique or White. Wax should be applied every 6-12 months or as needed for high traffic surfaces. It is for indoor use only. An alternative to Wax is Matte Varnish. Use this on heavily used furniture. It can be used for indoor or outdoor projects.
