FAQs

What are round brushes and how are they used?
Round brushes have longer hairs and are put in a round ferrule. They are used for base painting, floating color and for a multitude of stroke formations.
What type of project surfaces can I paint it on?
Leather Studio™ paint can be applied to either brand new surfaces, or older used surfaces in need of an uplift!
Perfect leather or vinyl project surfaces include shoes, boots, purses, tote bags, vintage suitcases to name a few.
Why do Bucilla needlepoint kits always use the continental stitch?
We think that designs worked up using a continental stitch come out more beautiful when completed with this stitch than with any other needlepoint stitch. The designs are truer and neater. In addition, the continental stitch uses less yarn than other stitches.
How do I care for my finished Mod Podge project?
Lightly wipe your Mod Podge project with a dampened, lint-free rag.
How do you create a "blended" look with two colors of Gallery Glass® Window Color™?
On our patterns, there are dotted lines and arrows in some sections. Fill in each side of the dotted line with the desired color. While wet, comb the paint in the direction of the arrows.
How do you paint the standard One Stroke™ leaf?
Load the flat brush with Thicket and Sunflower. Start by touching flat side of brush.
Push brush down and pivot, turning green side slightly toward tip.
As you get close to end of leaf, pull up on chisel edge at tip.
Is it difficult to achieve the distressed look?
It's easy to achieve a distressed look with Waverly Inspirations Chalk.
Once top coat of paint has dried, simply sand the surface with sandpaper until the base coat of paint or the raw surface shows through. When satisfied with the distressed look, wipe project surface with a damp cloth to remove access sanding dust. For a lightly distressed look, simply sand the corners, edges and details of the piece. For a heavily distressed look, sand corners, edges, details and smooth areas of surfaces so that more of the surface shows through.
What are scrollers or script brushes and how are they used?
Scrollers are liner brushes with longer hair. Liner, scroller, or script brushes are fine, round, pointed brushes used for detail work. Liners have shorter hairs than scroller or script brushes. All of these come in several sizes.
How do I get rid of surface bubbles when working with Mod Podge?
Remember, do NOT shake the jar of Mod Podge - this will create more bubbles. If bubbles appear when applying Mod Podge, load your brush with a medium amount of the glue. When brushing out the Mod Podge, do not brush with a fast motion. This could whip bubbles on the surface of your project. If there are bubbles you can take a pin and pop them and then lightly brush over.
How do you paint vines using the One Stroke™ script liner brush?
Pull the brush along in an uneven line.
Cross the vine with other lines to make an intertwining look.
