FAQs

How are FolkArt® Enamels different from Apple Barrel Gloss?
FolkArt® Enamels are a unique polymer blend that is specially formulated for use on glass and ceramics. They are highly pigmented for excellent opaque coverage
You can achieve a durable, opaque, glossy sheen with one-step – there is no primer or finish needed. The paints can be mixed and blended, making them perfect for the One Stroke method.
When dried and cured, projects painted with FolkArt® Enamels are top-shelf dishwasher safe! When washed correctly, they will not chip, crack, or fade.
Is the Martha Stewart Craft Paint or Glass Paint food safe?
No, The Martha Stewart Craft Paints and Glass Paints are non-toxic, but they have not been approved for contact with food. Therefore, we do not recommend using them for areas that will come into contact with someone’s mouth or direct contact with food. When working on a glass or ceramic drink ware, be sure to tape or mask a lip line approximately 0.8” or 2cm from the top of the drinking vessel. And when working on a glass or ceramic plate that will come in contact with food, be sure not to apply the finish on the food area of the plate; add a design on the rim only or in reverse on the backside of the plate.
What are the curing instructions for Martha Stewart glass and craft paint?
Paint is permanent after air drying for 21 days or can be baked to expedite permanence.

Bake-to-Cure Method
  1. Allow painted item to dry for 24 hours to be sure all layers of paint have dried.
  2. Place project in a cool oven, as the glass must heat gradually with the oven to avoid breakage; do not place glass in a hot oven.
  3. Set oven temperature to 350ºF.
  4. Once temperature has reached 350ºF, allow the project to bake for 30 minutes.
  5. After 30 minutes, turn the oven off and let glass cool down completely before removing from the oven.
  6. Do not use for 72 hours.
