Yes, when creating with FolkArt Home Decor Layering Stencils, it is best to allow each stenciled layer to completely dry prior to adding another stenciled layer.
Not only will the paint colors stay clean, it will also prevent the back of the stencils from getting wet and possibly smudging the first layer of paint.
What type of brushes should I use when creating with FolkArt Home Decor Layering Stencils?
Any high quality stencil brush will work with the FolkArt Home Decor Layering Stencils, however, for best performance we recommend using the FolkArt Home Decor Small Wax Brush.

How can I use FolkArt Home Decor Layering Stencils?
When combining any or all of these layering stencils, a variety of effects can be achieved! Try stenciling the Silhouette design a color different than the project’s basecoat color. When dry, layer the detailed Pattern stencil using a third complementary color.

The FolkArt Home Decor Layering Silhouette stencil, when used alone, will create a basic stenciled shape or opaque outline of a shape design.

The FolkArt Home Decor Layering Pattern stencil, when used alone, will create a detailed stenciled pattern design.

How do I use the FolkArt Home Decor Wood Layering Block?
If desired, basecoat project using FolkArt Home Decor Chalk. Select two or more paint colors for layering. Pour small amount of first color onto a foam plate.
Dip flat side of FolkArt Home Decor Layering Block into puddle of paint. Gently drag flat side of Layering Block across project surface in long sweeping motions, creating an uneven painted effect. Use very light pressure when dragging the block; only gently skim project surface. Reload block and continue process until project is covered with the worn, uneven painted effect. Drag block across surface in multiple directions to create a more authentic, time-worn look. Allow to dry. Clean block while wet with soap and water and repeat layering process with additional colors until desired look is achieved.
