FAQs

What are transparent colors?
Transparent colors are thinned with medium or water to create a wash or a glaze of color that you can see through to the underlying surface.
What is a template or frisket?
A template is a shield which consists of an edge that can be stenciled to create a design, such as a large, curved piece to form hills or mountains. When used in this context, a template is also called a frisket. Many pre-cut stencil designs include templates or friskets. You can create a template by cutting a piece of a 5" x 8" index card or stencil blank material to the shape you need.
Can my Mod Podge-coated surface be washed?
No, just lightly wipe Mod Podge projects with a dampened, lint-free rag.
Does Waverly Inspirations Chalk contain latex?
No! The Waverly Inspirations Chalk formula is manufactured using synthetic acrylic resins.
How can I create a darker shade of Gallery Glass® Window Color™?
To intensify or darken a color, apply another layer of paint after the first one dries.
How can I keep the edges of the fabric in my Bucilla kit from fraying?
Tape the edges of your fabric with masking tape.
How do I stitch a cross stitch on Aida fabric?
Cross-stitches are completed in a row or if necessary, can be done one at a time in an area.
Stitching is done by coming up through a hole between woven threads at A. Then go down at B, the hole diagonally across from A. Come back up at C and down at D, etc. Complete the top stitches to create an “X.” All top stitches should lie in the same direction.
How do you load the FolkArt® One Stroke™ mini brushes?
Because the mini brushes (#2, #6, #8, and #10) are so narrow, they can't be loaded like the standard and large brushes.
To load, dampen the brush and blot on a paper towel to dry. Dip the entire bristle section of the brush into the darker paint puddle. Pull the brush out of puddle to smooth paint into bristles.
Pull one edge of the brush along the edge of the lighter paint puddle.
How long does it take projects painted with Leather Studio™ paints to dry?
Allow all Leather Studio painted project surfaces to dry at least 24 hours before using.
What are warm colors?
Warm colors are all the colors on the yellow and red side of the color wheel. Yellow, Yellow/Orange, Orange, Red Orange, Red, Red/Purple, Purple are all warm colors. All colors on the color wheel can be both warm and cool except Orange.
