FAQs

Is FolkArt Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Paint food safe?
Although the paint is non-toxic, it should never come in contact with food. When painting a glass, keep painted design below 8/10" or 2 cm from the lip; and when painting plates, paint only on the rim of the plate that will not come in contact with food or reverse glass paint in the center.
Can I basecoat with FolkArt® Outdoor™ paint?
Yes.
If you are basecoating concrete, for example for a bird bath or statue, a lime neutralizer is needed. Household vinegar works fine. Coat the concrete with vinegar, let it dry, wash it off, dry thoroughly, then it's ready to paint.
It is not ideal to basecoat a large concrete area to walk on (ie: a patio).
My FolkArt Home Decor Chalk paint has clumps in it! What should I do?
Over time, that is perfectly natural. As air becomes trapped in the top portion of the paint bottle (after it has been opened and paint used) a paint skin may form.
With each paint use, it is best to remove the top skin before stirring the paint.

On what types of surfaces can I use FolkArt Brush Lettering Paint?

Many surfaces can be decorated with FolkArt Brush Lettering Paint: wood, papier mache, canvas, metal, glass, glazed ceramics, paper, and terracotta. This paint also works well on acrylic-painted or stained surfaces. Make sure to seal or basecoat porous surfaces such as plaster and bisque before applying Brush Lettering Paint.

Can I speed up the drying process of FolkArt® Texture Paint using a fan or hair dryer?
We recommend air drying the FolkArt® Texture Paint. Using a fan or hair dryer may remove the moisture from the paint too quickly and cause the paint to crack.
Can I create any special effects with FolkArt Milk Paint?
Yes, FolkArt Milk Paint is versatile and can be used many ways. Apply a standalone color or use to create a distressed appearance. This versatile milk paint can also be thinned with water to achieve a washed look. By thinning the paint a soft color wash can be applied to the surface for just a hint of color while highlighting the natural wood grain.
What is the paint cure time when working with FolkArt Home Decor Chalk paint?
FolkArt Home Décor Chalk paint will dry to the touch almost immediately, however it will take 24 hours before fully cured to the surface.
How much paint coverage does one 8 fl. oz. jar of FolkArt Home Decor Texture Chalk paint provide?

One 8 fl. oz. jar of paint covers approximately 15 sq. ft.; however, the amount of Texture Chalk applied and porosity of the surface will determine how much coverage can be achieved with each jar of paint.

How long does it take FolkArt Pre-Mixed Pouring Paint to cure?
