Creator Spotlight - Kingston Crafts

This year we have a lot of new creators! We have 13 new, in addition to 4 returning creators! This series will give you a look into each creators style and personality. Each of the creators will have a profile in the coming weeks! The first is Beth Kingston with Kingston Crafts.

What is the name of your blog?

Kingston Crafts

Why did you choose that name?

It actually started out as a joint venture with my husband is also very creative! Wanted to leave it open to interpretation – “crafts” is a pretty big category! J

What inspired you start blogging/video?

I’ve been on HSN for ten years but didn’t start blogging until a few years later. I wanted a place to be able to share projects I was doing on tv and give people more information on the products I was selling.

How do you describe your style?

Easy, clean, fun. I love color, don’t take myself too seriously, and want projects to be DO-ABLE. I want people to feel creative no matter what their skill level!

What has been your biggest blogging/video achievement?

I’ve been so fortunate to be able to make a living doing what I love for the last ten years – I consider that a HUGE accomplishment! Every time I’m approached by a company interested in working with me I still can’t believe how lucky I am.

Who has been the biggest influence on your crafting?

I’ve had the crazy fortune of having some amazingly creative women in my life – but Anna Griffin and Amber Kemp-Kerstel (of Damask Love) have really helped shape who I am as a business woman in this industry. I don’t know what I’d do without them!

What is your favorite color?

kelly green and navy blue

What is your catchphrase?

It used to be “the crafter next door” – now I am trying out “You don’t have to be a Pinterest Mom – even if you play one on tv”. HA!

If you could craft with anyone past or present who would you craft with and why?

I come from a long line of creative women. I wish my grandmother could see the woman I’ve become and she and I and my mom could spend a long weekend together. What I wouldn’t give to be able to learn from her!

What is your favorite downtime activity?

We are SUPER lucky to live on the water in Maryland – and kayaking is one of my all time favorite ways to relax. I also love food more than words can express! J

Quickfire Questions:

  • Beach or mountains? mountains – as long as there is a lake!
  • Mod Podge Gloss or Matte?  - matte
  • Movie Theater or Streaming?  - streaming
  • Cats or Dogs? – we have a great dane – but oh how I love kitties!!
  • Cake or Pie? – cake…frosting is LIFE!!!!!!!!!!
  • Decoupage or Stitching? - stitching
  • Pancake or Waffle? - pancake
