With all the snow that keeps coming down, it doesn’t seem like April is right around the corner—but I promise, it is! And I’m super excited because the awesome crafting retreat the Makerie is happening April 10–13. I’ll be teaching there with our new line of Handmade Charlotte stencils, available in Michael’s stores now!
The Makerie is a craft retreat for anyone—skilled or novice—and takes place in the mountains in Boulder, Colorado. Not only is it a weekend of crafting projects, but you’ll also get to participate in yoga, hiking, yummy meals, and more. And I’ll be there with plenty of our new stencils and FolkArt Multi-Surface paints (the best paints for any project because they work brilliantly on almost any material). In addition to making these giant floor pillows, I’ll also teach you how to create your own stencils, apply pattern to fabric, and sew for your home. It’s going to be so much fun!
But that’s not all. You’ll learn how to make decorative Polish mobiles with Mia Simpson, as well as modern monogram patches with Rebecca Ringquist. Both are great projects to make for your kids.
And then there’s one of my favorite workshops, Little Picasso with Kristin Fitzgerrell, where you’ll learn to recreate your kiddos artwork as a piece of fine art for the home. Love this!
For those with a little sewing experience, you can even learn to design your own clothes with Cal Patch, author of Design-It-Yourself. With the skills you pick up here, you’ll be able to go home and make your own wardrobe. That’s what’s great about all the workshops. I’m a big fan of all the participating teachers, and I know they’ll share with you the foundational skills you need to go home and make your own designs. The best part: all this magic takes place during a nice relaxing weekend in the mountains where you’ll meet new friends while making beautiful crafts by hand.
This is just a taste of what you’ll find at one of the best craft retreats this year. Visit the Makerie for more information and to register. I hope to see you there!
