Meet the Plaid Creators: Bev of Flamingo Toes!

Meet the Plaid Creators: Bev of Flamingo Toes!

It's time for another exclusive interview with one of our Plaid Creators! This week, we focus in on Bev McCullough of Flamingo Toes! A long time crafter, Bev believes that it is never too late for anyone to pick up DIY! Bev's interests range a whole span of crafts, and she loves color like crazy. Check out the rest of Bev's exclusive interview below!

Q: When did you first start getting into DIY and crafting?
A: I've been crafting and sewing since I was little. I was making things for my room and some of my own clothes even in middle school and one of my first jobs was at House of Fabrics. That really cemented my love for making things.

Q: Who inspired you to start crafting?
A: My mom made a lot of our clothes and she taught me to sew at a young age. My dad is an amazing watercolor artist, so i grew up in a really creative atmosphere. It was great.

Q: What was the most memorable craft/project you ever created?
A: Oh, that's tough! I think my Cross-Stitch Chair is definitely one of my all-time favorites.

Q: Did you do arts and crafts as a child? If yes, who did you do them with?
A: We did--I remember trying sketching but thinking that it was definitely not my forte. :) But we'd make things for our room, gifts, all kinds of things.

Q: Why is crafting worthwhile to you?
A: It's pretty much my favorite thing. It's my creative outlet, my fun, and a way to express myself.

Q: What is your favorite aspect of crafting and creating?
A: Coming up with an idea and then the process of bringing it to life is so fun. Especially when it turns out like I want it to! :)

Q: Where do you find your inspiration?
A: I do a lot of vintage inspired projects, so I love getting ideas from antique stores and vintage images.

Q: Any advice to those just starting to get into crafting?
A: Just dive in! Crafting is like anything else you try--you have to keep at it to develop your skills. It's a great hobby to start with friends too--there's nothing like sitting around with others and making things together.

Q: What are 3 craft supplies/tools that you can't live without?
A: That's a tough one too! I think my sewing machine, my hot glue gun, and my paintbrushes! Oh and my embroidery hoops. That's four--sorry!

Q: What's something you have yet to create, that you dream of creating/crafting some day?
A: I have some big plans for our home so there are tons of projects there I am thinking about. We are going to put up a hanging barn door and add shiplap to the mater bedroom--I'm excited to get started on those!
