The Creative Process + Adding Flair

Embroidery artist Erika Tu’Avao loves for her artwork to grab attention through color and bold details. Along with vibrant colors, Erika adds unique flair (often with yarn) which is a simple step that truly elevates her finished artwork.

We asked Erika how she got started with embroidery, and her favorite detail to add to her embroidered artwork. Before we dive into those videos, here are all of the supplies Erika used while making this creative, 3D landscape:

  • 8” Bamboo embroidery hoop from the Embroidery Hoop Set
  • Embroidery Floss, 35 Colors - 144 Pieces
  • 100% Acrylic Yarn, Worsted, Light Colors - Mini Pack of 20

“Pom pom fluffy clouds are definitely my favorite way to add some flair to my hoops! The Arteza yarn multipacks are the best for trying out different colors for 3D embroidery. I can’t wait to use the rest of the colors! Let me know if you try this pom pom technique out!”

“Three years ago I fell in love with the textures and colors of embroidery landscapes and it will forever be my favorite medium
