Other Things You'll Need

  • Palette
  • Water cup
  • Paper towels
  • Pencil (optional for sketching)

Instructions

Step 1: Base Coat Mix Wicker White with a small amount of Linen to create a soft cream color. Apply 2-3 coats to the entire heart plaque using a large flat brush, letting each coat dry completely.

Step 2: Plan Your Design Lightly sketch or visualize the floral pattern: larger flowers at bottom left and top right, with leaves and stems flowing throughout. Refer to the photo for placement.

Step 3: Paint Large Flowers Using a medium round brush, paint the larger blooms with Navy Blue. Create petals by painting curved strokes radiating from the center. Add dimension by mixing Navy Blue with Skyline for some petals.

Step 4: Add Medium Flowers Paint smaller flowers using Skyline. Vary sizes and placement across the heart. Refer to the photo for placement.

Step 5: Paint Buds Create unopened flower buds using Navy Blue. Paint small teardrop or tulip shapes on stems throughout the design.

Step 6: Layer Leaves Mix Teal with Minted Aqua for the main leaf color. Using a small flat or round brush, paint flowing leaf shapes with pointed tips. Add variety by painting some leaves in pure Teal and others in pure Minted Aqua for depth.

Step 7: Add Stems and Branches Using a liner brush and Navy Blue, paint delicate stems connecting flowers and leaves. Create flowing, curved lines throughout the composition.

Step 8: Detail Leaves Mix Thicket with a touch of Teal for darker leaf accents. Add small detail leaves and sprigs between larger elements. Paint thin, wispy leaves using the liner brush.

Step 9: Highlight Flowers Once flowers are dry, add dimension by mixing Skyline with Ocean View. Dab lighter color on some petals. Add tiny Wicker White highlights to flower centers and petal tips for a luminous effect.

Step 10: Final Details Step back and assess your design. Add any additional small leaves, buds, or stems to fill empty spaces. Use the liner brush and Minted Aqua to paint delicate accent leaves throughout.

Step 11: Blend and Soften If any areas look too harsh, lightly blend edges while paint is still slightly damp using a clean, damp brush.

Let your plaque dry completely for 24 hours before displaying or sealing with a clear acrylic sealer for protection.
