Instructions
- Basecoat the birdhouse with Patina. Let dry. Apply a second coat and let dry.
- Print the GINGERBREAD Mod Podge Digital Download file on regular printer paper. Cut out the gingerbread texture panels, door, windows, roof shingles, and decorative elements. Refer to the photo for placement.
- Using a firm decoupage brush, apply a thin layer of Matte Mod Podge to one section of the birdhouse at a time. Place your cut gingerbread texture paper onto the wet Mod Podge, smoothing from center outward to remove air bubbles.
- Cover the main walls with the gingerbread texture pattern. Refer to the photo for placement of each panel.
- Apply the cork-textured roof panels using the same technique. Then add the door, windows, and decorative gingerbread trim pieces. Refer to the photo for placement.
- Let each section dry for 15-20 minutes before moving to the next area.
- Once all paper elements are applied and dry, seal the entire birdhouse with a thin coat of Matte Mod Podge using your decoupage brush. This protects the design and gives a finished look. Let dry for 1 hour.
- Paint Snowbank on the roof edges, corners, and base of the birdhouse to create a snow effect. Let dry.
- Using a sponge or small brush, dab Sparkle Mod Podge over the Snowbank. The sparkle finish adds a frosty, magical touch. Refer to the photo for placement.
- Apply generously for a dimensional snow appearance. Let dry completely (2-3 hours).
- Once everything is dry, add optional decorative touches like a mini bottle brush tree or tiny wreath at the entrance for extra charm.
Pro Tips
- Print on regular paper, not cardstock, for easier decoupage application.
- Work in sections to prevent Mod Podge from drying before paper is applied.
- Smooth out wrinkles gently with your brush while the Mod Podge is still wet.
- Build up sparkle snow in layers for a more realistic effect.
- Let dry completely between coats for best results.
