Denim Photo Transfer Purse

Instructions

  1. Mod Podge Photo Transfer: Start with a white cotton fabric, and follow the instructions on the Mod Podge Photo Transfer bottle. Once finished, cut out to create your own kind of patches with photo transfer. Then set aside to add onto your purse at the end.
  2. Prepare Your Fabric: Find or thrift a pair of jeans you are ready to repurpose and cut open one leg of the jeans to have a flat piece of denim. Iron out until smooth, it is important to always press your fabric before starting a project allowing you to start with a wrinkle free surface.
  3. Cut the Fabric: Using the provided purse pattern, trace two times onto the fabric. Cut out the pieces so you have both sides to the purse.
  4. Create clean seams along the handles: Take the top edge of the denim where the handles will be. You are going to fold over the cut edge ¼ inch toward the inside of the purse to create clean seams along the exposed edges. Iron to secure, then sew along this line. Stitch along the top of the fabric and stop sewing at the notches from the pattern. Repeat for both cutout pieces.
  5. Sew the Fabric: Take the two pieces of denim and put the right faces together. Maintaing a ¼ inch seam, stitch around the left, bottom, and right sides to create the purse body. Be sure not to stitch the handle sides you just stitched prior to this step. Sew only to the notches in the pattern again.
  6. Photo Transfer Patches: Now turn the purse right-side-out. Place them around the purse, referencing photo for design. Then apply Mod Podge Fabric to the back of each photo piece. Press and smooth on to secure, then let dry.
  7. Attach the Handles: Fold the two top edges over the wooden handles and apply Mod Podge Fabric to secure the denim wrapped around the wooden handles. Smooth and press to secure the handles.
