Create custom wrapping paper and gift tags with Mod Podge and printable designs. Easy DIY tutorial for elevated holiday gift wrapping.
Instructions
For Custom Wrapping Paper:
- Wrap your boxes with plain kraft paper or white wrapping paper. Secure with tape as usual.
- Print your chosen designs from the XMAS TAGS LABELS digital download. Cut out motifs like ornament circles, text phrases ("joy," "love," "santa"), snowflakes, or other holiday graphics.
- Arrange your cut designs on the wrapped package before gluing to plan spacing. For an all-over pattern like the white package, space designs evenly in rows. Refer to the photo for placement.
- Using a firm decoupage brush, apply a thin layer of Matte Mod Podge to the back of each design. Press onto the wrapped package, smoothing from center outward.
- Work one design at a time, spacing them across the package surface. Refer to the photo for pattern ideas: Repeating circles with text on white background, Scattered snowflakes on kraft paper.
- Once all designs are applied and positioned, brush a thin coat of Matte Mod Podge over each design to seal. Let dry for 1 hour.
- Tie a coordinating ribbon around the package and finish with a bow.
For Matching Gift Tags:
- Print gift tags from the digital download on cardstock for durability. Cut out each tag shape carefully.
- Brush a thin coat of Matte Mod Podge over the front of each tag to seal and protect the design. Let dry for 30 minutes.
- Punch a hole at the top if needed. Thread ribbon through and tie onto your wrapped package. Or simply glue the tag directly to the package surface using Mod Podge.
Pro Tips
- Print multiple copies of your favorite designs for larger packages.
- Use cardstock for tags, regular paper for wrapping paper designs.
- Apply Mod Podge in thin coats to prevent wrinkling.
