DIY Halloween Book Covers & Bookmarks

Transform plain books into Halloween showstoppers with vintage-inspired covers and bookmarks using the Mod Podge Spooky Haunts Bundle. This DIY project is a perfect way to give your bookshelf or coffee table a seasonal spooky upgrade!

Instructions

  1. Open the Spooky Haunts digital bundle and select your favorite vintage Halloween images. You can mix witches, black cats, pumpkins, or retro patterns—just like in the example photo.
  2. Print your selected images on standard printer paper or photo paper for more vibrant colors. Cut out backgrounds, characters, and accent pieces to fit your books and bookmarks.
  3. Lay out your cutouts on your book covers and bookmarks. Play with layering: place witches over patterned backdrops or pumpkins under falling stars. Refer to the attached photo to guide your layout ideas.
  4. Use a foam brush to apply Mod Podge to the back of your cutouts and press them onto your surface. Smooth out air bubbles. Once dry, brush a thin layer of Mod Podge over the entire surface to seal. Let dry completely.

Bookmarks

  1. Use leftover images to create coordinating bookmarks. Glue them onto cardstock, seal with Mod Podge, and cut out. Punch a hole and add ribbon or twine if desired.Use glitter, washi tape, or paint to enhance your designs. You can add spooky stars, shimmer, or handwritten titles like "Blood Moon Bay" or "Murder She Float" to complete the look.
