DIY graduation cap

Celebrate graduation with a personalized Mod Podge craft during Mod Podge Month. Decorate your cap with colorful paper and magazine statements using Mod Podge Matte to create a design that stands out in the crowd.

Instructions:

  • Trace the shape of your graduation cap onto poster board, or measure and cut a square that matches the size of the cap. Cut a small hole in the center of the square so it can fit over the button where the tassel attaches.

  • Separate the layers of the napkin and keep only the printed top layer.

  • Brush a layer of Mod Podge over the entire poster board square. Carefully place the printed napkin on top and smooth it out to remove wrinkles. Fold the napkin over the edges of the poster board for a clean finish, then apply a topcoat of Mod Podge. Let dry.

  • While the Mod Podge dries, cut out letters using a magaazine to spell “I made it.”

  • Brush Mod Podge onto the area where you want the letters. Place the letters on the cap and smooth them down, then apply another thin topcoat of Mod Podge. Let dry.

  • Once everything is fully dry, apply Treasure Gold around the edges of the square to create a gold frame. Let dry.

  • After the paint is dry, use hot glue to attach the decorated poster board square to the top of your graduation cap, lining up the center hole with the cap’s button.
