Turn yourself into a life-size paper doll this Halloween with just poster board, cardboard, and paint! Design and wear your very own tabbed outfit for a creative, one-of-a kind costume that is sure to turn heads.
Instructions:
- Gather materials.
- Sketch the outfit and accessories on poster board with a pencil.
- Paint the pieces, working in layers with shadows and highlights. Once dry, outline everything with black paint or a paint pen.
- Cut out the pieces. Glue together any components that belong as one piece using Mod Podge.
- Make tabs by cutting small rectangles from leftover poster board and adding dashed lines around the edges with black paint or a paint pen.
- Trace the cutouts onto cardboard and cut them out with an X-ACTO knife.
- Attach each poster board piece to its cardboard backing using Mod Podge, sandwiching the tabs between the layers so they stick out from the sides. Weigh down each piece while drying.
- Assemble the headpiece by hot gluing the cutout to a headband, then reinforcing the bond with a small piece of cardboard on the back.
- Add the belt loop by placing a belt at waist level on the back of the outfit, then hot gluing a vertical cardboard rectangle over it, gluing only the top and bottom edges so the belt can slide through.
- Once everything is dry, slide the belt through the loop and fasten it at your waist, then put on the headband to wear.
