toy story costume

Round up a playful Halloween look with this DIY Jessie-inspired costume made from thrifted finds, colorful fabric appliqués, and hand-painted western details. With a little creativity and plenty of cowgirl charm, this costume brings storybook style to life in the cutest handmade way.

  • Scissors
  • Tracing paper
  • Pencil
  • Thrifted shirt
  • Thrifted jeans
  • Cow print fabric
  • Yellow fabric
  • Red hat
  • Yarn

Instructions:

  1. Wash and dry all thrifted garments before starting. Lay the shirt and jeans flat on your workspace.
  2. Use tracing paper to create a pattern for the yellow shirt appliques and the cow print chaps. Use the shapes to cut out the fabric pieces. Tip: Apply Mod Podge Fabric to the back of the fabric and allow it to dry before cutting. This will prevent the fabric from fraying.
  3. Apply Mod Podge Fabric to the back of each fabric piece and press firmly onto the shirt and jeans. Smooth out wrinkles and allow the appliqués to dry completely.
  4. Use FolkArt Multi-Surface paint to add details to the costume, like Jessie’s classic western swirls, as well as buttons and trims.
