Faux Stained Glass Cocktail Ornaments

Create festive cocktail-themed ornaments with Gallery Glass on plastic sheets for a fun, modern twist on traditional stained glass Christmas decor.

Instructions

Create Your Templates: 

  1. Sketch or print cocktail glass designs: wine glass, martini, coupe, champagne flute 
  2. Include decorative bows, citrus slices, and garnishes 
  3. Keep designs 4-6 inches tall for ornament size 
  4. Place plastic craft sheet over template 

Project 1: Orange Spritz Wine Glass 

  1. Outline wine glass shape with Gold Leading on plastic sheet 
  2. Add citrus slice garnish at rim using Gold Leading 
  3. Let leading dry 8 hours or overnight 
  4. Fill glass bowl section with Pumpkin Orange 
  5. Add thin layer of Clear Frost over orange for sparkle effect 
  6. Paint citrus slice with Citrus Yellow 
  7. Outline stem and base with Bright White or White Pearl for rim detail 
  8. Refer to the photo for Diamond Dotz detailing around edges:

    • DDC.8060 Light Jazz Pink Dotz 
  9. Let dry completely (24 hours) 
  10. Trim excess plastic around design 
  11. Add ribbon hanger through top 

Project 2: Red Wine Coupe Glass 

  1. Outline coupe glass with Gold Leading 
  2. Draw decorative bow at stem with Gold Leading 
  3. Let leading dry completely 
  4. Fill upper bowl with Ruby Red for wine 
  5. Paint bow sections with Ruby Red 
  6. Add highlights to bow with small dots of Rosy Pink 
  7. Outline glass rim and stem with Bright White and apply the Diamond Dotz: 
    • DDC.8002 White Diamond Dotz 
    • DDC.8020 Flag Red Dotz 
    • DDC.8060 Light Jazz Pink Dotz 
  8. Refer to the photo for bow detail placement 
  9. Dry 24 hours 
  10. Cut out carefully 
  11. Attach hanger 

 

Project 3: Beer/Cocktail Coupe with Foam 

  1. Outline shorter coupe glass shape with Gold Leading 
  2. Let leading dry 
  3. Fill lower section with Pumpkin Orange or Peach Tea 
  4. Paint foam layer at top with Bright White 
  5. Add Cocoa Brown dots on foam for spice garnish 
  6. Edge glass rim with Diamond Dotz referring to the photo:

    • DDC.8402 Chocolate Brown Dotz 
  7. Dry completely 
  8. Trim and add hanger 

 

Project 4: Champagne Coupe with Pink Bow 

  1. Outline champagne coupe with Gold Leading 
  2. Draw large decorative bow at stem 
  3. Let leading dry overnight 
  4. Fill bowl with Clear Frost or very light Peach Tea 
  5. Paint bow with Ruby Red and Rosy Pink sections 
  6. Add dimension to bow with darker red in folds 
  7. Refer to the photo and apply Diamond Dotz to accent borders: 
    • DDC.8002 White Diamond Dotz 
    • DDC.8020 Flag Red Dotz 
    • DDC.8230 Veridian Green Dotz 
    • DDC.8396 Light Latte Dotz

  8. Refer to the photo for bow ribbon tails 
  9. Dry 24 hours 
  10. Cut out and attach ribbon 

 

Diamond Dotz Border Techniques

For All Ornaments: 

  1. After main design dries, add Diamond Dotz details 
  2. Use Bright White or White Pearl paint in bottle with fine tip to help adhere 
  3. Apply Dotz around glass rims and bases 
  4. Space Dotz evenly for beaded garland effect 
  5. Refer to the photo for Dotz placement 

 

Finishing Tips 

  • Work on flat surface covered with wax paper 
  • Keep leading lines consistent and connected 
  • Allow each layer to dry before adding details 
  • Use toothpick to pop any air bubbles while wet 
  • Peel carefully from wax paper when fully dry 
  • Trim plastic close to leading for clean edges 
  • Punch small hole at top for ribbon before cutting out 
  • Display near tree lights for maximum sparkle 

 

Design Variations 

  • Create mojito glass with green tones (add Kelly Green if available) 
  • Make margarita glass with lime garnish using Citrus Yellow 
  • Try different bow colors: gold, silver, or multi-colored 
  • Add glitter to wet Gallery Glass for extra sparkle 
  • Create full cocktail party set with 6-8 different drinks
