ghost candy bowl

Give your Halloween treats a ghostly home with this DIY candy holder made with Mod Podge and FolkArt Acrylic Paint.

Other Things You'll Need

  • Cheesecloth
  • Scissors
  • Green embroidery floss
  • Collection of vases and bowls
  • Plastic wrap
  • Small yarn doilies
  • Black felt
  • Hot glue

Instructions:

  1. Stack a tall vase, a round vase, and a large bowl to create the desired height and shape for the ghost. Wrap the entire form in plastic wrap to hold the pieces together and help the dried Stiffy release easily.
  2. Pour Stiffy into a large bowl. Cut the cheesecloth into large pieces that are long enough to drape over the form and pool around the bottom.
  3. Place each piece of cheesecloth in the Stiffy and fully saturate it. Drape the pieces over the form, layering them until you achieve the desired ghost shape. Press the cheesecloth down into the bowl at the top of the form to create an opening for holding candy. Let dry completely.
  4. Tint small amounts of Stiffy with FolkArt Acrylic Paint in the desired colors. Saturate the small doilies in the tinted Stiffy, shape them into flowers, and let dry on plastic wrap.
  5. Apply Mod Podge to small areas of the ghost. Use embroidery floss to shape leaf outlines, then place them onto the Mod Podge as shown. Let dry.
  6. Use hot glue to attach the dried doily flowers to the leaves.
  7. Cut two eyes from black felt and attach them to the ghost with hot glue.
