Set the scene for a merry night in with a hand-painted banner made using FolkArt Acrylic Paint, perfect for holiday hangs, festive drinks, and celebrating with your favorite people.
Instructions:
1. Unroll your craft paper and cut a piece that is 5 feet long.
2. Use painter’s tape to attach the paper to the wall. Place it at a height that feels comfortable to paint. If it's too high, you may need a step stool. Too low and you may be crouching while you work.
3. Use a digital projector to shine the banner design onto the paper. Leave a few extra inches of paper around the edges so you can trim it later.
4. Trace the design with chalk. Trace the lettering, scalloped borders, tree, bow, and sparkle details, or simply sketch the main shapes to guide your painting.
5. Turn the projector off, but leave it in place in case you want to turn it back on later for additional details.
6. Helpful tip: Print the design in color and keep it nearby so you can easily reference the colors and placement as you paint.
7. Use the large mop brush to paint the scalloped top and bottom borders Holly Leaf. Let the paint dry completely before moving on.
8. Paint the lettering using Wicker White. Use the large mop brush for the larger script lettering and the smaller brushes for tighter areas and details. Once the white paint is dry, use a red ultra-fine paint pen to outline the “Merry” and “Bright” lettering for a crisp, defined finish.
9. Paint the large bow on the right side of the banner using Lipstick Red. Once dry, use Wicker White and a liner brush to add the striped details throughout the bow.
10. Paint the tree on the left side using Ballet Pink. Use the small mop brush to fill in the larger tree sections, then use the liner brushes to paint the decorative bows in Lipstick Red and Holly Leaf.
11. Use Pure Gold to paint the stars. Add a second coat once dry if needed for a full coverage.
12. Once the banner is completely dry, trim the edges with scissors. Tie pink ribbon into bows and attach them to the top corners of the banner for the finishing touch.
