Instructions
- Choose Your Fabric: You can use cotton, canvas, or any other sturdy fabric. Make sure it is blank or white so that you can paint your own pattern on. (Optional, add interfacing for more support). Always press your fabric before starting a project to start with a wrinkle free surface.
- Stamp on Pattern: Apply paint to the stamp with a spouncer. Using the photo for reference and inspiration, begin stamping different colors onto your fabric. Watch as you begin to create this beautiful pattern as seen in the photo on the purse. Let fully dry
- Cut the Fabric: Using the provided purse pattern, trace two times onto the fabric. Cut out the pieces so you have both sides to the purse.
- (Optional) Attach Interfacing: If you're using interfacing, iron it onto the wrong side of your fabric pieces according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Mod Podge the Fabric: Apply Mod Podge Fabric around the edges on the right side of one of the pieces of fabric. Leaving out the purse handles for now, apply the Mod Podge all the way up to the notches in the pattern. Place the other piece of fabric on top of the Mod Podged piece, right sides together. Press and smooth out to secure the pieces together. Once fully dry, turn the purse right side out.
- Create clean seams along the handles: Apply a thin line of Mod Podge around the edges above the pattern notches, including the handles. You are going to fold over the cut edges ¼ inch toward the inside of the purse to create clean seams along all exposed edges. Press and smooth to secure, then let dry.
- Attach the Handles: Place the wooden handles on the folded edge. Apply Mod Podge Fabric along the inside the secure each pieces of the fabric handles around the wooden handle. Press and smooth to secure the handles.
- And there you have it! A beautiful, personalized purse with wooden handles.
