Stiffy Fall Candlesticks and Pumpkins

Other Things You'll Need

  • Cheesecloth 
  • Round Balloons 
  • Twine 
  • Hot Glue 
  • Candlesticks 
  • Plastic Wrap 
  • Nonstick Surface 
  • Scissors  
  • Bowl 

Instructions

Candlestick Bows 

  1. Pour Stiffy into a bowl.  Add a small amount of paint to the bowl and mix.  Repeat this step for each color. 
  2. Cut cheesecloth to desire length and tie into a bow. 
  3. Dip the bows into the stiffy/paint mix. 
  4. Place the bows onto the nonstick surface.   
  5. Reshape the bows and insert the plastic wrap into each loop of the bows.  This will help to keep the bows form. 
  6. Allow the bows to dry overnight. 
  7. Once dry, remove the plastic wrap and cut the ends into a “V” shape. 
  8. Hot glue the bows to the candlesticks. 

Pumpkins 

  1. Blow up the balloons to desired size. 
  2. Wrap a piece of twine around each balloon to make the indentions of a pumpkin. 
  3. Cut the cheesecloth into strips.   
  4. Pour some Stiffy into a bowl and dip the strips into the Stiffy.  Remove excess and wrap the balloons. Add several layers of cheesecloth. 
  5. Cut a larger strip of cheesecloth and dip into the Stiffy.  Form a stem and sit it onto the nonstick surface.  Allow everything to dry overnight. 
  6. Pop each balloon and remove from the inside of the pumpkin. 
  7. Paint the pumpkins with Orange Sherbert, Pumpkin Orange and Harvest Orange.  Shade the indentions of the pumpkins with Nutmeg. 
  8. Paint the stems with Parakeet. 
  9. Hot glue the stems onto the pumpkins.
