Meet the Plaid Creators: Katie Wylie of Made To Be A Momma

Meet the Plaid Creators: Katie Wylie of Made To Be A Momma

We are so happy to have Katie Wylie of Made To Be A Momma as one of our Plaid Creators, and we are super excited to share with you an exclusive behind the scenes interview with the lady herself. A long-time crafter, Katie was inspired to craft by her Mother and Grandmother's work with Tole painting when she was a child. Soon after having her first child, Katie explored her love for crafting by starting a blog, filled with inspiration for kids crafts & treats, family recipes, and so much more! Check out the rest of her interview below!

Q: When did you first start getting into DIY and crafting?
A: My Mom and Grandmother used to Tole Paint and sell their work at local craft stores and every since I was a little girl I have been right beside them crafting the hours away as well ☺

Q: Who inspired you to start crafting?
A: My Mom and Grandmother.

Q: What was the most memorable craft/project you ever created?
A: Oh man, I have so many of them! Some of my favorite projects are anything I have made for or with my children. When I found out I was expecting my first child I immediately started making décor for his room!

Q: Did you do arts and crafts as a child?
A: If yes, who did you do them with? Sure did!  With my Mom and Grandmother…..all…the…time! ☺ My grandmother taught me to sew!

Q: Why is crafting worthwhile, to you?
A: I craft a lot with my own children now and that is my favorite kind of crafting. Seeing their imaginations at work and the pride they have in themselves when they complete a craft is what makes me the happiest!

Q: What is your favorite aspect of crafting and creating?
A: The time I get to spend with my children and knowing that these are the moments they will remember and hopefully have with their own children one day.

Q: Where do you find your inspiration?
A: All around! When I am crafting for myself I usually craft to fulfill a need I have. When I am crafting for my children I like to get inspiration from their favorite tv shows or hobbies they have at the moment.

Q: Any advice to those just starting to get into crafting?
A: Keep it simple!  Crafting is meant to be fun and enjoyable. It’s a time of creating something for you or for your loved ones.

Q: What are 3 craft supplies/tools that you can't live without?
A: My three favorite go to craft supplies are paint, ribbon and glitter! I am all about the embellishments and making simple things pretty!

Q: What's something you have yet to create, that you dream of creating/crafting some day?
A: I would love to create a colorful playroom or a large space where my children can paint, create and glue the day away!
