Photo Transfer 101

Photo Transfer 101

Happy National Mod Podge Month! We are continuing our month-long celebration of Mod Podge with a deep dive into Photo Transfer! Learn more about all the Mod Podge formulas and a brief history of America's Favorite Decoupage Medium in one of our latest blogs

Photo's one of our favorite things to do here at Plaid! We love personalizing DIY projects with our favorite photos and we have made photo transfer easier than ever before. As you will learn today, there are a variety of ways to transfer your photos to a piece of wood, canvas, fabric, and so much more!

While we have had Mod Podge Photo Transfer Medium and Clear Image Transfer Medium for several years (and if you don't know how these two formulas work, keep reading) - Plaid has a new way to photo transfer that is quick and easy - a handy Heat Transfer Tool!

We have the supplies and the inspiration to make your next craft project come to life with your personal touch.

Read on to learn the basics of Photo Transfer and learn more about the new Heat Transfer Tool!

The Basics

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between our photo transfer and image transfer mediums?

Here is a quick comparison chart to show you the similarities and differences.

The Mod Podge Photo Transfer Medium can transfer color and black-and-white photocopies of your favorite photos to any decoupage project surface such as wood, fabric, canvas, and more! Simply brush on this unique medium onto your photocopy. Then apply to your project surface; when dry, rub paper to reveal your image.
With this unique medium, you can put your face on almost any surface!

Use Mod Podge Photo Transfer and embroidery floss to create a stylish wall-hanging! This is a great way to take your embroidery projects to the next level.

Check out this episode of Make it with Mod Podge to see how you can use the Mod Podge Photo Transfer Medium to create fun decals.

Transfer photocopies of special photos and artwork to wood, glass, metal, and canvas with Mod Podge Clear Image Transfer Medium. This formula is a water-based, non-toxic medium that provides the ability to transfer any photocopied image onto a variety of surfaces without creating a paper halo around the transferred image. Mod Podge Clear Image Transfer Medium dries to a clear, matte finish—perfect when working on colored backgrounds. It does not require a topcoat or finish; however, one can be applied for added protection.
