Craft with Gathered Hues

Craft with Gathered Hues

The foundation of any finished product is raw, natural materials. For years inspiration has come from nature and now that simple, organic ideology is gravitating toward the way you decorate your home. Odds are you already have some natural pieces in your home. Baskets, wood, textiles and more can be given new life with a fresh layer of paint.

With fall in full swing and Thanksgiving only a few weeks away, give all your vessels a coat of paint from our Gathered Hues palette. Use FolkArt Golden Ochre Acrylic Paint to brighten a drab wicker basket, box or tray. Then pair with the palette’s complementary FolkArt colors  - Navy Blue, Linen, and Burnt Umber for a dynamic storage piece.

Prepare for the holiday season by revamping the natural pieces in your home. With painter’s tape and these energizing color combinations, you can quickly and easily create an inexpensive statement piece. No need to buy new baskets to decorate for Thanksgiving, just paint them like we’ve done below! What could be easier than repurposing something you already have to look like it came from a stylish, big-box store?

Stripes of color on wicker or canvas can add dimension and detail to a relatively plain organizing bin. Leave sections unpainted to show contrast. Showcase your personality by stenciling your favorite design on wood items.

Completely cover old, worn-out pieces with your favorite color from our Gathered Hues palette. Texture is highlighted more anytime you add a layer of bold colors to natural items.

Make your own painted tags, baskets, trays and more with these instructions.
