Stencil tape or a spray or liquid stencil adhesive works best to hold your stencil in place while stenciling. Spray adhesives work best with intricate designs.
How do I use spray stencil adhesive?
Lightly spray on the back of the stencil. Be sure to spray on a large scrap piece of paper away from your project.
What is the best paint to use in combination with Stencil1® FolkArt® stencils?
Stencil1® FolkArt® stencils can be used with most acrylic paints. However, FolkArt® Multi-Surface Acrylic Paints work beautifully as they can be applied to many different types of surfaces.
What tool can I use for stenciling with Stencil1® FolkArt® stencils?
Stencil1® FolkArt® stencil brushes make the perfect tools when stenciling with Stencil1® FolkArt® stencils. Conveniently there are two sizes of stencil brushes, a medium and large which work well with the varying sizes of stencils. You can also use Spouncers®, foam rollers and sponges.

How should I clean my Stencil1® FolkArt® stencils?
When stenciling with waterbase paints, clean up is easy with mild soap and water while paint is still wet. You may also find wiping the stencil with a rubbing alcohol moistened paper towel effective if the paint dries on the stencil.
Where do I start when using the Stencil1® FolkArt® overlay stencils?
When stenciling with a Stencil1® FolkArt® design that has overlays, start with the background first, then second use the silhouette design and the detail stencil last.
How do I cut the different icon designs apart?
Cut the stencil along the perforated lines. Or you can use a metal ruler and a craft knife and cut along the perforated lines.
Can I use Stencil1® FolkArt® stencils on fabric?
Yes, they work beautifully on home decor items like pillows, curtains, fabric shower curtains, rugs and much more.
Can I reverse the Stencil1® FolkArt® design?
Yes, just turn the stencil over and stencil.
