Globe, Brush basin or container for water, Paper towels, Foam plate, ¾” Flat brush, White chalk
Begin by wiping the globe with a damp paper towel to remove any dust or dirt from the surface.
Basecoat all water areas FolkArt Multi-Surface Deep Ocean Blue using a ¾” flat brush. Note: you may skip this step if desired, however, we basecoated the water areas and painted over many of the small islands so that the background areas to be chalked would be less distracting by the identifying text of lakes and small islands or land masses. Allow to dry.
When dry, brush a top coat of clear chalkboard topcoat over the entire globe. Allow to dry. Reapply a second coat.
The chalkboard surface should be “conditioned” prior to using. To condition the globe, hold a piece of chalk on its side and chalk over the entire globe coating the surface with white chalk. Note: if a surface is not conditioned prior to use, you may always see a “ghost” of what was first written after it has been wiped away.
Wipe away conditioning chalk with a paper towel and your globe chalkboard surface is ready for your message.
Tip: Perhaps you can also chalk a star or other icon on places you have traveled or places you wish to travel to!
