Other Supplies

  • White linen throw
  • Paper towels
  • Container for water
  • Palette
  • Cardboard for backing board
  • Scissors

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Wash and dry the lap throw. Press with iron.  
  2. Refer to the Basic Silkscreen Tips for information on using Martha Stewart Silkscreens.
  3. Use scissors to cut apart the silkscreen designs.

Lap Throw

  1. Secure edge of blanket to cardboard or thick paper to protect area underneath when silk screening.
  2. Using stencil tape, tape off an edge along the bottom as shown to create borders.
  3. Using a medium dauber, paint the stripes Indigo.  Let dry, then remove the tape.
  4. Next, silkscreen a random pattern of the winter greens designs scattered on the throw alternating using the following colors:  Seaweed, Pesto and Lily Pad.  
  5. Let dry and then heat set.

Clean Up

  1. Wash all silkscreens, brushes, and tools immediately after use before the paint dries.
  2. Cleaned silkscreens should be stored on the backer sheet for future use.

Finishing

  1. Allow the painted project to dry 72 hours and then heat set to enhance the project's durability.
