#12 flat brush, #2 flat brush, #2 script liner, Clear glass plate, Glass tumblers
Instructions
To prepare surfaces, clean surface of glass with alcohol.
1. Load the 3/4 inch flat with one of the following colors: Cobalt, Engine Red, Forest Moss or Pure Orange. Dip the chisel edge of brush into Clear Medium and blend in the same track used to load the paint. Using the flat side of the brush, paint the body of the candle. Repeat for other colors.
2. Load the #12 flat with School Bus Yellow and then add a touch of Wicker White to one corner. Using the flat side of the brush, paint the flames. Load the script liner with Engine Red and a touch of Pure Orange; paint the wick.
3. Add stripes, squiggles, and starsand "x" to the candles for decoration using a contrasting color.
4. Load the script liner with Whicker White and apply thickly to the tops of the candles to mimic melted wax. Bake Method of Curing FolkArt Enamels: Allow your piece to dry for one hour to be sure all layers of paint have dried. Place the piece in a cool oven. Set the oven temperature to 350ºF and bake for 30 minutes. Glass must heat gradually with the oven to avoid breakage. Do not place glass in a hot oven. After 30 minutes, turn the oven off. Let glass cool completely in oven. Do not use for 72 hours. Air Dry Method for Curing FolkArt Enamels: Air Dry the project for 21 days before using. NOTE: Food or beverages should not make contact with the painted design. When painting stemware, allow 3/4” along the top rim of the glass to remain paint free.
