  • 4’ x 12” piece of wood
  • Hello Hobby Cardstock Stencil Set, 12" x 12", 26 Piece, Richmond
  • Masking tape
  • Cup
  • 2”x2” wooden block
  • Plate
  • Paper towels

instructions

  1. Basecoat the board with Imperial.
  2. Tape off a 3/8” boarder and paint White Adirondack
  3. Stencils with White Adirondack except for the “O”.
  4. Paint an ornament shape where the “O” goes in White Adirondack.
  5. Apply rows of masking tape in one direction over the ornament.  Use a piece of the tape as a spacer in between each row.
  6. Apply rows of masking tape going in the other direction.  Use a piece of tape as a spacer in between each row.  There should be squared shaped opening now for you to paint.  Paint with the Rich Black.
  7. Remove all the tape.  There should be small black squares on the ornament.
  8. Water down the Rich Black to make a wash in a cup.  Use the wash to paint from one square to another.  The white should be visible through the wash.
  9. Paint the top of the ornament with Treasure Gold.
  10. Paint holly and holly berries with Antique Green and Imperial.  Highlight the leaves and berries with White Adirondack.
  11. Pour some Rich Black onto a plate.  Dip the block into the black and remove some onto a paper towel.  Lightly glide the block along the edges of the wooden board to give it a distressed look.
  12. Lightly glide the block along the front of the board over the “welcome” leaving a very little amount of paint as you glide.
