instructions

  1. Cut pieces of newspaper to fit your 8” x 10” canvas. You can cover the canvas in a patchwork effect or cover it in one large piece.
  2. Using a flat brush, apply a thin, even coat of Mod Podge Matte to the entire surface of the canvas. Apply the newspaper carefully, gently smoothing out any bubbles with your finger. Let dry.
  3. Using a stencil brush, Pure Black and the “Alphabet Peddler” stencil pack, stencil a word on the canvas (i.e. “love,” “peace,” “joy,” etc.). Let dry.
  4. Apply a small amount of Mod Podge Matte to the area where you would like to place the dried flowers. This is only to “tack” the flowers in place so they don’t move when the resin is poured. Place your flowers on the Mod Podge and allow to dry.
  5. Mix the Mod Podge Resin according to the instructions on plaidonline.com/ModPodgeResin.
  6. On a protected work surface, prop the canvas up on 3-4 overturned cups. This will allow the resin to drip off of the canvas instead of pooling around it. Note: make sure work surface and cups are disposable because resin will likely get on them.
  7. Pour clear resin over the entire surface of the canvas. Allow the resin to set for 1-2 hours, then mix a fresh batch of resin following the instructions in step 5 and pour a second coat of resin over the entire canvas. Repeat this step until the dried flowers are completely covered in resin. The amount of coats needed will vary depending on how thick your flowers are.
  8. Allow the resin to cure fully.
  9. Remove any resin drips with sand paper.
