Nautical Thermometer Wall Plaque

Make dad an embellished thermometer plaque with Mod Podge and FolkArt paint.

Other Supplies

Wood plaque, Map paper, Scissors, Foam paintbrush, Thermometer, Screw, Screwdriver, Wood anchor, Detail paint brush, Hot glue, Rope

Instructions

1. Paint the plaque with Brilliant Blue.  Use two coats of paint.

2. Trim the map to fit the top of the plaque.  Using a foam paintbrush, apply Mod Podge to the plaque and to the back of the map paper.  Position on to the plaque.  Smooth the paper with a Mod Podge Brayer.  Allow to dry for 15 min.  Top-coat with a layer of Mod Podge.

3. Screw the thermometer into the plaque.

Project Tip: Dollar stores are great places to look for things to alter.  For this project, we found the thermometer at the dollar store!

4. Paint the anchor Brilliant Blue.  Once dry, use a detail paintbrush and Parchment to paint details to the anchor. 

5. Hot glue the anchor to the plaque.  Hot glue rope around the plaque and thermometer.
