What surfaces can Apple Barrel Gloss Acrylic Paint be used on and how should I prepare the surface?
- Wood – Sand smooth with medium grit sandpaper, wipe to remove sawdust.
- Metal / Tinware – Wash with soap and water, wipe with white vinegar dampened cloth. Rinse with water and allow to completely dry.
- Paper Mache – Wipe clean with damp cloth.
- Canvas – Wipe primed canvas clean. If unprimed, apply a couple coats of FolkArt Gesso or FolkArt Clear Primer.
- Glazed Ceramics / Glassware – Wash with soap and water then rinse well, allow to dry. Wipe surface with rubbing alcohol dampened cloth. Allow to dry 15 – 30 minutes prior to painting.
- Fabric – Prewash in mild soap and water without using fabric softener to remove manufacturer’s sizing. Denim should be washed a couple times to ensure the sizing has been removed. Thoroughly dry without using dry sheets. If needed, iron to remove wrinkles without using spray starch.
- Concrete – Neutralize the lime on the concrete first. Coat with distilled white vinegar, allow to dry, rinse well and allow to dry thoroughly. Best used on decorative concrete objects rather than a patio floor.
- Plaster – Wipe clean with a damp cloth.
- Terra Cotta – Wipe clean. Seal pot interior with a couple applications of Plaid’s Clay Pot Sealer to prevent paint blisters on the exterior of the terra cotta pot.
- Styrofoam – Wipe clean.
