Serious Fun Camps
Over 30 years ago, Paul Newman started a free camp where children with severe medical conditions could escape the isolation of their conditions, have fun, and just be a kid. This wonderful concept started with one camp in Ashford, CT and has since grown into a global network; today, Serious Fun Network has camps and programs around the globe serving the needs of medically-challenged children and their families.
Mr. Tom's Heart
Plaid has been a friend of Tom Umstead for longer than we can even remember. Mr. Tom's Heart is a non-profit volunteer organization that provides assistance to a variety of charities: Ronald McDonald House, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, the Atlanta Union Mission, Dorothy Benson Senior Complex, to name just a few. These charities help sick children and adults, lonely seniors, and homeless children and families. Mr. Tom and the volunteers of Mr. Tom's Heart, partner with these charities to provide in-kind donations of groceries, diapers, art and craft materials, and other sundries for the needy. Through Plaid's long-standing relationship, Mr. Tom and his team of volunteers are able to provide art and craft materials to a variety of worthy charities and individuals in our community.
Rainbow Village
Rainbow Village located in Duluth GA, guides homeless families toward self-sufficiency by providing housing, training and family support that helps them regain and sustain permanent housing and stability.
Help Heal Veterans
Help Heal Veterans, located in Winchester, CA provides free therapeutic art and crafts kits to hospitalized and homebound veterans, as well as active-duty military personnel. These craft kits help injured and recuperating veterans improve fine motor skills, cognitive functioning, manage stress, and cope with symptoms of PTSD.
NAEIR
NAEIR, located in Galesburg, IL, is a corporate partner with Plaid. Plaid's donations of art materials are then provided through NAEIR to schools, educators and non-profits around the globe, helping teachers to give better lessons, helping shelters to take care of more people and churches and ministries to provide more help to the needy. Through our strategic partnership with NAEIR, more teachers and children have access to quality materials for a better education and opportunities.
reKind
reKind, located in Guthrie, OK, is a corporate partner with Plaid that is a bridge to non-profit organizations and works through their partners and relationships to get supplies into the hands of those that need it the most.
Through our long-standing relationship with reKind, several times throughout the year, art materials reach a wide variety of impoverished communities, communities affected by severe weather conditions, children's relief programs, orphanages, cancer patients, medicallychallenged individuals and the families, Native American relief programs, and various aid ministries.
