For our second installment of our blog series honoring creators during Black History Month, we are excited to introduce you to Christine Lampson, also known as DeVyne DeZynz.

How does your creative process honor or reflect your background?
I think my creativity was spurred on by my mother when I was a young girl. She had a knack for transforming mundane things into sustainable decor or fashion. As an adult and with my own children, I made all their school uniforms up to high school. I also loved to make DIY crafts to decorate my home. I would spend hours crafting things without realizing it.
What Plaid products do you use most frequently and how do they evolve your work?
I enjoy using all of the Plaid line of products but enjoy using the chalk paints. Using chalk paint allows me to use only one coat (in most cases) and that aids in reducing the drying time so I can continue on with my project.

How do you balance staying true to your artistic vision while exploring new trends?
It's a challenge some days because things change so often these days, especially with the use of AI. I usually ask myself "how will what I am creating be received by the user"? If I have a challenge embracing the design, creativity or the idea, then I'll rethink it. I would prefer to be happy with who I am as Christian and knowing that my creativity comes from Him. If I am not honoring Him with the ideas and creativity He gave me, then I will not venture into that trend.
Can you share a moment when a specific Plaid product helped bring an idea to life?
I remember when I started crafting as a YouTube Content Creator and was buying up paints, mod podge, and other things needed for my crafting. I was still learning the ropes but I saw my fellow crafters talking about "Plaid" Of course I initially thought that was the fabric. Lol! I was then told about the Affiliate Program and submitted an application. I was so elated when I got my first box of products. But then the program was revamped and the products stopped coming and it was during the season that I appreciated having the them. I started mixing the paints to give me different colors that I could use to take my ideas to new levels. I loved the fact that I could use the Plaid paints to make my own mixture to give me my own ideas.
