Instructions

  1. Cut a piece of burlap and lay on foam plate. Thoroughly saturate with Mod Podge® and hang to dry.
  2. Cut two small balls in half and paint Medium Yellow. Cut a small piece of larger ball off to create a flat side. Paint Calypso Sky, Pink and Yellow Citron as shown. Let dry.
  3. Paint varying width of colored stripes on larger clay pots. Paint Medium Yellow, Calypso Sky and Pink sections on 3” pot. Using liner brush, paint two lines on bottom of 3” pot in Licorice for nostrils.
  4. Paint twelve 1 ½” pots in colors shown as well as 2” pot for neck.
  5. Cut another length of burlap approximately 7” x 4”. Remove strands along length until you have at least ½” left. Roll into a tube and glue end that is not frayed into bottom of one of the 4 ½” pots. This will be the back end of your donkey.
  6. Glue two largest pots together as shown.
  7. Glue twelve smallest pots together as shown. Glue small ball halves to ends of body, then glue legs to balls.
  8. Glue large ball head into pot with nose. Then glue to 2” pot as shown. Glue 2” pot to body using something to prop head up until glue is dry.
  9. Use Spouncers to create eyes in Wicker White and Licorice.
  10. Cut two long tapered shapes from stiffened burlap and glue to back of head for ears.
Tip: Create a smaller donkey by substituting pot and Styrofoam balls with smaller sizes for party favors.
