Buffalo Plaid Framed Wreath

Other Things You'll Need

  • Large repurposed frame
  • 18" wreath
  • Wood piece to fit inside frame
  • Masking tape
  • Cup
  • Water
  • 5 Clothespins
  • Hot glue
  • Hot glue gun

Instructions

  1.  Paint frame with Treasure Gold.
  2. Basecoat wood insert with Imperial.  Allow to dry.
  3. Apply rows of masking tape in one direction.  Use a piece of the tape as a spacer in between each row.
  4. Apply rows of masking tape going in the other direction.  Use a piece of tape as a spacer in between each row.  There should be squared shaped opening now for you to paint.  Paint with the Rich Black.
  5. Remove all the tape.  There should be small black squares all over the board. 
  6. Water down the Rich Black to make a wash in a cup.  Use the wash to paint from one square to another.  The red should be visible through the wash.
  7. Attach the panel to the back of the frame.
  8. Paint the wood rounds Imperial, Rich Black and White Adirondack as shown in photo.  Leave some of the raw wood showing.
  9. Paint a Scandinavian Pattern on each wood round. 
  10. Use the end of a paint brush to make small black and white dots around each wood round.  Refer to the photo as placement.
  11. Glue the clothespins to the back of each wood round.  Clip the ornaments onto the wreath.
