Other Things You'll Need

  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • wax paper
  • ¼ yard of desired fabric
  • Denim shorts

 

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry scrap fabric and shorts.
  2. Place fabric onto shorts as shown and cut into patches and trace lightly with pencil to create a pattern. Cut out around pattern ½” larger all the way around.
  3. Place fabric patches onto wax paper and apply thin coat of Fabric Mod Podge around edges only.  * Tip- about 1” all the way around over pattern lines.  Let dry.  Then cut out on pattern line. (Cutting fabric that is lightly coated with Mod Podge keeps the fabric from fraying.) 
  4. Apply thin coat of Mod Podge to back of fabric and smooth onto shorts as shown. Let dry.
  5. Referring to photo as guide paint similar patterns from fabric onto denim as shown. Let dry.
