Instructions
Bench- Transform an old dresser into an outdoor patio bench by taking out the drawers, cutting away any excess material, and lowering the top to form a sitting area.
- Wipe your surface with a damp cloth to remove any dust before painting.
- Working in small sections apply 1-2 coats of Nautical to the bench surfaces.
- For the drawer fronts sand off any finish and wipe with a damp cloth to remove any dust.
- Create 3 wash mixes with a 3:1 ratio of paint and water using plastic cups and popsicle sticks. Create a separate wash of each color - Maui Sand, Java, and Oatmeal.
- Apply the 3 washes in layers over raw wood on the drawer fronts.
- Allow to dry completely.
- Add 1-2 coats of FolkArt Satin Varnish Finish to protect the painted finish. Allow to dry completely.
Planter
- Remove any hardware from the drawers.
- Cut wood to create a stand for the drawers and attach on either side.
- Wipe your surface with a damp cloth to remove any dust before painting.
- Create 3 wash mixes with a 3:1 ratio of paint and water using plastic cups and popsicle sticks. Create a separate wash of each color - Maui Sand, Java, and Oatmeal.
- Apply the 3 washes in layers over raw wood.
- Working in small sections apply 1-2 coats of Nautical the drawer fronts.
- (Optional) Using Aleene's Wood Glue attach two long wood scraps to the front of the drawers and stencil onto. In this example we used the words "Bloom" and "Thrive".
- Allow to dry completely.
- Add 1-2 coats of FolkArt Satin Varnish Finish to protect the painted finish.
- Allow to dry completely.
Table
- Sand off any finishes from the top and sides of the table.
- Wipe your surface with a damp cloth to remove any dust before painting.
- Create 3 wash mixes with a 3:1 ratio of paint and water using plastic cups and popsicle sticks. Create a separate wash of each color - Maui Sand, Java, and Oatmeal.
- Apply the 3 washes in layers over raw wood.
- Paint the table legs with 1-2 coats of Nautical to the table legs
- Allow to dry completely.
- Add 1-2 coats of FolkArt Satin Varnish Finish to protect the painted finish.
- Allow to dry completely.
