Instructions

Bench
  1. Transform an old dresser into an outdoor patio bench by taking out the drawers, cutting away any excess material, and lowering the top to form a sitting area.
  2. Wipe your surface with a damp cloth to remove any dust before painting.
  3. Working in small sections apply 1-2 coats of Nautical to the bench surfaces.
  4. For the drawer fronts sand off any finish and wipe with a damp cloth to remove any dust.
  5. Create 3 wash mixes with a 3:1 ratio of paint and water using plastic cups and popsicle sticks. Create a separate wash of each color - Maui Sand, Java, and Oatmeal.
  6. Apply the 3 washes in layers over raw wood on the drawer fronts.
  7. Allow to dry completely.
  8. Add 1-2 coats of FolkArt Satin Varnish Finish to protect the painted finish.  Allow to dry completely.
 
 
 
Planter
 
  1. Remove any hardware from the drawers.
  2. Cut wood to create a stand for the drawers and attach on either side.
  3. Wipe your surface with a damp cloth to remove any dust before painting.
  4. Create 3 wash mixes with a 3:1 ratio of paint and water using plastic cups and popsicle sticks. Create a separate wash of each color - Maui Sand, Java, and Oatmeal.
  5. Apply the 3 washes in layers over raw wood.
  6. Working in small sections apply 1-2 coats of Nautical the drawer fronts.
  7. (Optional) Using Aleene's Wood Glue attach two long wood scraps to the front of the drawers and stencil onto. In this example we used the words "Bloom" and "Thrive".
  8. Allow to dry completely.
  9. Add 1-2 coats of FolkArt Satin Varnish Finish to protect the painted finish.
  10. Allow to dry completely.
 
 
 
Table
 
  1. Sand off any finishes from the top and sides of the table.
  2. Wipe your surface with a damp cloth to remove any dust before painting.
  3. Create 3 wash mixes with a 3:1 ratio of paint and water using plastic cups and popsicle sticks. Create a separate wash of each color - Maui Sand, Java, and Oatmeal.
  4. Apply the 3 washes in layers over raw wood.
  5. Paint the table legs with 1-2 coats of Nautical to the table legs
  6. Allow to dry completely.
  7. Add 1-2 coats of FolkArt Satin Varnish Finish to protect the painted finish.
  8. Allow to dry completely.
