Floral Craft Tote

Instructions

  1. Unscrew the handle from the tote and completely sand to a smooth surface. Wipe away the dust.
  2. Measure the sides of the tote and cut four pieces of paper to fit measurements. Measure and cut each side separately due to slight variations in size. Keep track of which paper goes on which side. Set cut-outs aside.
  3. Paint the main body of the tote with Medium Gray (including the inside). Paint the feet and the handle with Light Blue. Put several coats on everything and allow to dry.
  4. Starting on one side of the tote, apply Mod Podge in a medium-thick layer directly to the wood and then place the paper down, smoothing thoroughly (I use a brayer). Keep smoothing until you have removed the bubbles from the paper. Tip: You may need to add more Mod Podge to the corners since those typically dry the fastest.
  5. Repeat with the three other sides and allow to dry for 15 – 20 minutes.
  6. Completely coat the tote and handle with two coats of Mod Podge, allowing to dry for 15 – 20 minutes between coats. This provides a finished seal for your project.
  7. Add a ribbon trim around the top of the tote using craft glue and allow to dry. Replace the tote handle. Allow project to dry for at least 24 hours before using.
