Other Things You'll Need

  • Mirror with a flat edge - you’ll need the edge to be at least 2” wide
  • Fabric of your choice – I used a body pillow cover
  • Scissors
  • Craft knife and mat
  • Pen
  • Ruler
  • Paintbrush.Medium grit sandpaper and tack cloth (optional).Wax paper (optional).Waterproof sealer (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the fabric by washing and drying. Cut the pillow cover so that it is one single layer of fabric (as opposed to double thickness) and place on a non-stick surface (wax paper is recommended).
  2. Sand the edge of your mirror (if required) and wipe away dust with the tack cloth.
  3. Measure the edge of your mirror (mine was 2”). You’ll need to cut four fabric strips, one for each side of the mirror, to fit. I did this by using a ruler and marking with a pen on the BACK of the fabric. Then I cut the fabric using the ruler, craft knife and mat.
  4. At each corner, cut at a perfect 45 degree angle using your craft knife and mat. Make sure that these fit the mirror before trimming.
  5. Start on one side, and Mod Podge down the fabric. Add a medium layer of Mod Podge to the mirror edge surface, place the fabric down and smooth. Let dry for 15 – 20 minutes and repeat. Work your way around the mirror until all four sides are covered. Let dry.
  6. At this point you can trim the fabric to fit the mirror OR fold the fabric over the sides.
  7. Give all four sides a top coat of Mod Podge and let dry. Repeat and let dry.
  8. Scrape any excess Mod Podge that got onto the mirror off with a razor blade before hanging.
