Other Supplies

Painter's tape or masking tape.

A clean, dry coffee mug.

A ruler and pencil (optional, for marking the grid).

Instructions

1.      Clean the mug thoroughly with soap and water to remove any grease or residue. Dry it completely.

2.      Use rubbing alcohol to wipe down the surface where you will be painting to ensure it's clean.

3.      Using painter's tape, apply it to the mug to create a grid pattern. Make sure the tape is firmly pressed down to prevent paint from seeping underneath. Be sure to leave a 3/4” or 2cm gap from the lip edge.

4.      Using one of your chosen paint colors, paint the exposed areas of the mug within the grid pattern. Apply a thin, even coat.

5.      Allow the paint to dry completely. FolkArt Multi-Surface Acrylic Paint dries relatively quickly, but it's best to wait at least an hour.

6.      Carefully remove the painter's tape once the first color is dry.

7.      Reapply the painter's tape to cover the areas you just painted, exposing the sections where you want to apply the second color.

8.      Paint the exposed areas with the second color. Again, apply a thin, even coat. Allow the paint to dry completely.

9.      Curing the Paint: Once both colors are dry, you need to cure the paint to make it dishwasher safe.

a.      Place the mug in a cool oven.

b.     Set the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30 minutes.

c.      After 30 minutes, turn off the oven and let the mug cool completely inside the oven before removing it.

10.  Once the mug is completely cool, inspect your design. If needed, touch up any areas with a fine-tip brush.

11.  Extra Design Tips: With these tips, you can create unique and personalized coffee mugs that are perfect for your morning routine or as thoughtful gifts for friends and family.

· Personalized Names: Add names or initials within the grid pattern. Use a fine-tip brush for precision.

· Seasonal Themes: Use colors and patterns that reflect the current season. For example, pastel colors for spring, bright colors for summer, warm tones for fall, and cool shades for winter.

· Inspirational Quotes: Add a small, uplifting quote or word in the center of the mug to start your day on a positive note.
